Description
A dark horse head, finished in a deep ebony lacquer, rises from a base modeled after a Corinthian capital, the architectural column form used in ancient Greek and Roman temples. Layered acanthus leaf carving in ivory porcelain scrolls upward and tapers into a gilt square plinth, giving the piece the structure of classical architecture rather than a typical animal sculpture.
The horse itself wears a red leather bridle with gold trim, styled in the tradition of English and European equestrian portraiture rather than ceremonial court dress. Paired with the Corinthian base, the result sits between two traditions: the realism of a sporting horse bust and the formality of Neoclassical architectural ornament.
At 87cm tall, this piece reads as a monument more than a decorative object. It suits a library, a study, or an entry hall where a sense of classical grandeur matters as much as the subject itself.
Part of Homedor's Grand Manor collection, alongside other Neoclassical and Roman-influenced bronzes, this sculpture pairs history with architecture in a single form.
