This garniture set is painted with exotic pheasants in vivid plumage, set against a white porcelain ground bordered in gold ribbon and scrollwork. The bird motif draws on Oiseaux de Buffon, the pheasant and exotic bird pattern developed from 18th-century French natural history illustration and adopted by Sèvres and other European porcelain houses as one of the era's most recognized decorative traditions.

Gilt bronze mounts finish each piece with a different classical detail: dolphin-form feet on the egg-shaped lidded jar, dolphin handles on the twin-handled urn, lion-ring handles and a Greek key rim on the square baluster vase, and scrolled acanthus feet on the flared jardinière.

The set spans four distinct forms, a jardinière, a lidded egg urn, a footed compote, and a baluster vase, each carrying the same pheasant and ribbon motif in a different silhouette.
