The Chinoiserie Tobacco Leaf Porcelain Vase is a collection of three porcelain vases painted in the celebrated tobacco leaf pattern and mounted in sculpted brass. Each takes a different form: a cockatoo trumpet vase, a leaf-handled amphora and a dragon cornucopia vase, ranging from 18 to 30 inches tall.

In the late eighteenth century, porcelain painters in China created a pattern for European buyers unlike anything before it. Great overlapping leaves in sapphire, saffron and deep indigo spread across the surface, opening onto crimson blossoms and long-tailed birds in flight. Collectors called it Tobacco Leaf, and it became one of the most treasured patterns of the export porcelain trade. Two centuries later, it remains a signature of collected interiors, from Parisian salons to the grand houses of Palm Beach.

Each vase carries this pattern in full color, with gilded branches and birds drifting across a white ground, and each is completed by brass mounts that give it a character of its own.
