A vivid peacock blue ground sets the stage for a garden in full bloom, blossoming peonies and fluttering butterflies rendered in the painterly tradition of Chinoiserie porcelain. Around the neck, a hand painted lattice pattern in soft gold and ivory adds a delicate graphic rhythm above the rounded body, framed by bands of geometric fretwork tracing the neck and shoulder in quiet, repeating detail.
Below, the vase rests on a hand finished ormolu bronze base, its gilded claw feet and echoing fretwork pattern designed in direct conversation with the porcelain above, a pairing that reflects the long history of French cabinetmakers mounting East Asian porcelain in European gilt bronze.
